Asoka | Moong Dhal Halwa | Gluten Free

This is a very popular Tanjavur Dish and made with Moong dhal. I had first tasted this halwa during my in-laws 60th wedding anniversary and it tasted yummy. apparently this is my MIL's favorite sweet.
I wanted to try this for a long time and here it is. It did taste very yummy :)

Ingredients Required:
Moong Dhal - 1 cup
Wheat flour - 1/4th cup
Sugar - 1 & 1/2 cups
Food color Red - Pinch
Cardamon Powder - 1 tsp
Cashews - 10
Ghee - 3/4 th cup

How to make?
Heat 1 tsp of ghee in a pan and roast the moong dhal till the raw smell goes.
Pressure cook the dhal with 1/4 cup of water till well done.
Mash up the moong dhal with a masher or blend for a minute till a paste is formed.
In a pan, heat a tsp of ghee and roast the cashews. Set aside.
Add another tsp of ghee and roast the wheat flour till the raw smell goes and set aside.
In the same pan, add the mashed dhal and sugar.
Also add in the cardamon powder and food color.
Also add in the roasted wheat flour and mix well.
Slowly add in the remaining ghee spoon by spoon.
Keep on stirring by adding ghee in intervals till a non sticky paste is formed. It should not stick to the bottom and come together as a whole.
It took me around 15 minutes to achieve this state.
Pour in another vessel and garnish with the cashews.
Serve hot.
