Savory | Khara Buns

This is a guilt free healthy snack and makes a great tea time munch! And most of all very easy to make but it takes a little preparation time as we have to allow the yeast to work on the dough.

Makes 8 - 10 buns
Ingredients Required:
Wheat Flour - 3/4 cup
All Purpose flour - 3/4 cup
Active yeast - 1 tblspn
Milk - 1/4 cup
Water - 1/4 cup
Oil - 2 tblspn
Salt to taste
Garlic Powder - 1 tsp
Garlic minced - 1 tsp
Ginger - 1 tsp
Red/green chilli - 4, chopped
Cilantro - few springs, chopped
Coriander Powder - 2 tsp
Sugar - 1 tsp
Sesame seeds - 2 tsp

How to make?
Add the yeast powder to a lukewarm milk and water mixture along with sugar and salt and let the yeast dissolve.
Mix both the flours in a mixing bowl.
Add the garlic powder, minced garlic, ginger, chopped cilantro, chopped chilli, coriander powder and give a good mix.
Slowly add in the yeast mixture and knead into a soft pliable dough.
Smear oil on the dough and allow to rest in a closed bowl for 2 hours in a warm place.
The dough would have risen, punch down the dough and roll it into small balls of golf ball size and place it on a baking tray.
Cover the tray with a kitchen towel and let it rest in a warm place for an hour.
After an hour, preheat the oven to 350 F.
Sprinkle some sesame seeds on the buns and bake for 15 - 20 minutes till they turn golden brown.
Remove from the oven, brush some butter on top and enjoy when warm!

Note:
Since we are using the wheat flour along with all purpose flour the texture of the buns would not be as soft but is still delicious.
You can use all purpose flour alone for a more softer version and whole wheat flour alone for a more healthier version.
