This is a basic sweet chutney for the chaat dishes.
Ingredients Required:
Tamrind - 1/4 cup
Dates - 1/2 cup
Chaat Masala - 2 tblsp
Salt as required
How to make?
In 5 cups of water, add the tamrind and dates. Boil for 10 minutes till the tamrind and dates becomes soft.
Allow to cool and pour through a strainer, mash well with hand till the pulp passes through the strainer.
Start to heat the pulp water along with chaat masala and salt.
Heat till the quantity is reduced to half.
Do a taste test to check if the sweetness and sourness is correct.
If the sourness dominates the sweetness, add some sugar.
Allow to cool and serve along with all the chaat dishes.
Notes:
Stays well for upto 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
