Besan (Gram Flour) Ladoo

Very simple yet delectable sweet - Besan Ladoo. Mostly you would have all the ingredients at home.
This is a melt in your mouth recipe and I usually make this after making fresh ghee at home, in the same pan so it adds to the flavor!



Makes 15 ladoos
Ingredients Required:
Besan Flour - 1 cup
Ghee - 1/4 cup + 1 tblsp
Powdered Sugar  - 1/2 cup
Cardamon - 2 tsp
Almond flour - 2 tblsp (or any nut flour, just grind the nuts to a coarse powder)

How to make:

  • In in a heavy bottom pan, add the 1/4 cup ghee and add the flour. Start roasting on low- medium flame till it turns golden brown and the raw smell goes away - 20 minutes
  • Add in another tblsp of ghee and roast further, you would find that the mixture would start to melt and turn into a pasty consistency. Make sure no lumps are formed. Takes 10 more minutes to achieve this consistency.
  • Once you reach a goo-ey consistency, switch of the flame. Add the almond flour, sugar and cardamon.
  • Mix well till well incorporated.
  • Set aside for 5 minutes so it cools down.
  • Grease your hands with ghee and start taking a tblsp of the mixture and start rolling between your palms to form ladoo.
  • Set on a plate to cool down and serve. It will harden on cooling.
