Rava Kara Seedai - Krishna Jayanthi Recipes

This is a different type of seedai that can be made along with the usual uppu and vella Seedai for Krishna Jayanthi. This is flavored with cumin and pepper and gives a nice spicy taste.

Ingredients Required:
Rava - 1 cup
Pottukadalai Flour - 1/4 cup
Pepper - 1 tsp
Cumin - 1 tsp
Butter - 1 tblsp
Salt - to taste
Hing - pinch
Oil - to deep fry

How to Make?
Grind the rava to a fine powder and set aside in a mixing bowl.
To this add pottukadalai Flour, hing and salt.
Grind the pepper and cumin to a coarse powder.
Add this to the mixture along with butter.
Mix well and add water to make a plaiblw dough.
Roll out small balls and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan on high heat and when hot reduce the heat to medium.
Drop one seedai to check if the oil is at the correct temperature. If it is then bubbles will form around the seedai and it will come to the top.
Drop the seedais in batches and fry them till the bubbles subside and they become golden brown in color.
Remove from oil and strain in paper towel.
Store in air tight container.
