Similar to paneer makhani or not paneer butter masala this is a gravy dish with paneer and peas in tomato onion creamy sauce. Serve with any type of Indian bread or rice.
Serves - 4
Ingredients Required:
Onion - 1 large
Tomato - 2 medium size
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tblsp
Cashews - 10
Kashmiri red chilli - 2
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Cumin powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala - 2 tsp
Salt - as required
Kasturi Methi - 1 tsp
Cilantro - finely chopped
Oil - 2 tblsp
Cream - 1/4 cup
Paneer - 2 cups chopped
Frozen or cooked Peas - 3/4 cup
How to make:
In a pan, add oil and when hot add the chopped onion and saute till well cooked.
Add the ginger garlic paste and tomato. Add salt and cashews. Close the pan and allow to cook for 5 minutes.
Once cooked, allow to cool to room temperature and blend to a smooth paste.
In the same pan, add a tblsp of oil and add the paste.
Saute till well cooked and the oil leaves the sides.
Add the spice powder - coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala.
Cook for another couple of minutes.
In another vessel cook the peas in water till soft. And drain.
Add the paneer pieces and allow to boil in the water for a few minutes. This makes the paneer soft.
Add the paneer and peas to the masala.
Add water to bring it to a desired consistency and bring to a boil.
Add crushed kasturi methi and chopped cilantro.
Add in the cream and give a final mix.
Serve with roti or rice of your choice.
Notes:
You can use almond instead of cashews.
You can skip the cream or substitute with milk or almond milk.
