Kesar Doodh Peda - with milk powder and sugar

Peda is a delicacy of India, basically a milk sweet sweetened with sugar and flavoring. The traditional method of making Peda is by boiling milk for a long time till you are left only with milk solids. This is a simpler way of making the Peda with milk powder and sugar. Can be made in less than 20 minutes.
I have made the impression with a cookie press, you can use a Peda maker or simple just flatten it with your hands and decorate it with chopped nuts.

I have also tried making Peda with Ricotta Cheese , check it out!

Makes 8-10
Ingredients Required:
Milk powder - 1 cup
Milk - 1/4 cup
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Cardamom - 1 tsp
Saffron - pinch soaked in a tblsp of milk
Ghee - 2 tblsp

How to make:
Mix the sugar and milk in a mixing bowl. Whisk well till the sugar dissolves. If the milk is cold, you can warm a little so the sugar would dissolve easily.
Add the milk powder and mix well till no lumps are formed.
It would be a thick mixture but do not add more milk.
In a heavy bottom pan, add a tblsp of ghee and heat in medium heat.
Add the milk powder mixture, and keep stirring continuously till the mix comes together without sticking to the bottom.
Takes around 10 minutes.
Add the cardamom, saffron, remaining ghee and mix well.
Set aside in plate and allow to cool down to room temperature, if required you can place it in the refrigerator also.
Once the mix has hardened, take tblsp of the mix, roll it smoothly. Press down to gently flatten it.
You can now use the cookie press or Peda maker to get the impression or press some chopped nuts into the middle for decoration.
Keep refrigerated and serve.
