Javvarisi Kanji - Ekkadesi Recipe

Yet another Ekkadesi fasting/vrat food recipe. This ekkadesi tried the kanji with tapioca pearls or javvarisi as they call in Tamil. This is made with milk and jaggery, if you are vegan, you can easily substitute with almond milk. Since this was made for fasting for ekkadesi, I did not add any nuts, but feel free to do so as per your taste.

Serves 2
Ingredients Required:
Jaggery - 1/4 cup
Milk - 2 cups
Water - 2 cups

How to make:
Soak the javvarisi in 2 cups of water for an hour and cook on stove top or in a pressure cooker till soft (2 whistles) or 8 minutes in the instant pot.
Add jaggery to this and continue to cook till the jaggery dissolves.
Boil milk separately and mix the milk just before serving.
Do not boil too much after adding the milk, as the milk and jaggery together might curdle.

Notes:
You can add a tsp of ghee, cardamom, saffron or fried nuts as per your liking.
