Chocolate Peda with Milk Powder

This is yet another version of a peda recipe using milk powder and sugar. No fancy ingredients, just basics from your kitchen. I have used a cookie press to imprint the design on top, you can also use a peda press or just simply roll a ball and flatten it with your palms.

Traditionally peda is made by reducing the milk to its solid forms and then flavored. This is a quick recipe which uses milk powder instead - so you can make peda in 10 minutes!

I have also tried making Peda with Ricotta Cheese , check it out!

And the below one with Milk powder and sugar similar to this!

Makes 8-10
Ingredients Required:
Milk powder - 1 cup
Cocoa powder - 3 tbslp
Milk - 1/4 cup
Powdered Sugar - 1/3 cup
Ghee - 2 tblsp

How to make:
Mix the sugar and milk in a mixing bowl. Whisk well till the sugar dissolves. If the milk is cold, you can warm a little so the sugar would dissolve easily.
Add the milk powder and cocoa powder and mix well till no lumps are formed.
It would be a thick mixture but do not add more milk.
In a heavy bottom pan, add a tblsp of ghee and heat in medium heat.
Add the milk powder mixture, and keep stirring continuously till the mix comes together without sticking to the bottom.
Takes around 8-10 minutes.
Add remaining ghee and mix well.
Set aside in plate and allow to cool down to room temperature, if required you can place it in the refrigerator also.
Once the mix has hardened, take tblsp of the mix, roll it smoothly. Press down to gently flatten it.
You can now use the cookie press or Peda maker to get the impression or press some chopped nuts into the middle for decoration.
Keep refrigerated and serve.

Notes:
If you don't have powdered sugar, just take normal sugar and grind it till powdered.
Use good quality ingredients which is the secret to getting delicious peda.
I have used Nido Milk Powder as well for this recipe and it is perfect.
If the mixture after cooking is too dry - sprinkle some milk, knead to a pliable form and then make the peda.
