Chocolate Katli

I wanted to try making a chocolate katli similar to Badam Katli and Kaju Katli that I have made before. Tried my hand at this and was totally happy with the result. Katlis are thin burfi which is usually made by kneading the dough and rolling them to a thin disc and then slicing to desired shapes.

This is a very quick recipe and takes less than 10 minutes to make and to mention it is my son's favorite sweet.

Makes 8-10
Ingredients Required:
Milk powder - 1 cup
Cocoa powder - 3 tbslp
Milk - 1/4 cup
Powdered Sugar - 1/3 cup
Ghee - 2 tblsp

How to make:
Mix the sugar and milk in a mixing bowl. Whisk well till the sugar dissolves. If the milk is cold, you can warm a little so the sugar would dissolve easily.
Add the milk powder and cocoa powder and mix well till no lumps are formed.
It would be a thick mixture but do not add more milk.
In a heavy bottom pan, add a tblsp of ghee and heat in medium heat.
Add the milk powder mixture, and keep stirring continuously till the mix comes together without sticking to the bottom.
Takes around 4-5 minutes.
Add remaining ghee and mix well.
Set aside in plate and allow to cool down to room temperature.
Knead the dough well by either applying ghee on your hand or keeping the mixture under a parchment paper.
Divide into two portions. Smoothen out to a ball and roll out to a circle 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut out diamonds or shape of your desire.
Repeat for the other portion.

Notes:
If you don't have powdered sugar, just take normal sugar and grind it till powdered.
Use good quality ingredients which is the secret to getting delicious peda.
I have used Nido Milk Powder as well for this recipe and it is perfect.
If the mixture after cooking is too dry - sprinkle some milk, knead to a pliable form.
